Medical Direction

The Operational Medical Director for Pipers Gap Rescue Squad is:
Dr. Jason W. Edsall, MD, FACEP

Dr. Edsall is board certified in emergency medicine.  He attended medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.  Dr. Edsall became the OMD for the squad in September of 2007.  Since this time, he has been very active in the medical operations of the squad.  He has been instrumental in the implementation of progressive ALS protocols and has provided many training opportunities.  The membership of Pipers Gap Rescue Squad feels very fortunate to have a physician of Dr. Edsall’s knowledge and experience as our medical director.

The Assistant Operational Medical Director for Pipers Gap Rescue Squad is:
Adam McHone, DNP

Adam serves as the Assistant Medical Director under Dr. Edsall. Adam started his career as an EMT with the Pilot Mountain Rescue Squad in North Carolina. He became a Registered Nurse in 2008 where he began his career in the Emergency Department at Northern Regional Hospital, in 2010 he became a Flight Nurse with Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist AirCare. In 2012, he obtained a Master’s Degree from Winston Salem State University specializing in Family Nurse Practitioner.   In 2012, Adam started working in the Emergency Department with Dr. Edsall at Northern Regional Hospital. In 2018, Adam obtained is Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of South Alabama. He has been instrumental in the implementation of progressive ALS protocols and has provided many training opportunities.  The membership of Pipers Gap Rescue Squad feels very fortunate to have Adams  knowledge and experience as a Nurse Practitioner and  prehospital care provider as our assistant medical director.
